WHEN ELECTED AS NATIONAL EXECUTIVE VICE PRESIDENT OF AMERICAN MARITIME OFFICERS I WILL WORK WITH THE AMO MEMBERSHIP ON PUTTING THE DETAILS BACK IN THE CONTRACTS AT AMO.

The AMO members that I talk with are concerned about our current and future contracts. We have moved into a salary based 56 hour work week on and some have flat salary contracts. We have contracts without In's and Outs. We now have contracts with the EO/ET pay scale cut down to 3rd Mate 3rd Engineer Wages. We have contracts without training wages, some vessels require additional training without pay. We have contracts without travel pay or a $75 travel stipend. We have contracts that are missing the basic details. We have MOU's in place vice contracts on vessels.

At AMO we lost the Non Watch Allowance pay for Officers aboard the MSC RO/RO's at arbitration. More details missing from the MOU's. This was a major blow to the AMO and the members working on these vessels. Look at the 1997 LMSR MOU, its 33 pages, look at the 2017 LMSR MOU its 17 pages. We need to move away from Arbitration Clauses, MOU’s and get back to legal contracts.
